elka-Holzwerke GmbH is a medium-sized wood processing company with 118 years of wood experience. As a family business, we have been producing wood-based materials and sawn timber with 220 employees at our site in Morbach in Hunsrück for four generations. In a unique and exemplary value chain, the roundwood used is processed into useful wood products for the construction industry.

In close cooperation with the wood trade and our customers, we are constantly working on new and further product developments. The esb fresh wood board (elka strong board), for example, was successfully launched on the market thanks to its outstanding technical properties, as was the extensive range of lightweight wood-based materials.

We process only the domestic woods spruce and Douglas fir for the entire range. We are guided by ecological principles throughout our production. We source raw wood from suppliers who have committed to the sustainability principles of the Pan-European Forest Certification (PEFC). In April 2021, elka's innovative esb product line became the first wood-based boards in the German market to be certified as climate-neutral. Since August 2021, the entire company has been certified as climate-neutral; currently unavoidable CO2 emissions have been compensated for by targeted support for climate-friendly projects.
