German Sustainability Award
elka-Holzwerke from Morbach was nominated for the German Sustainability Award 2025 in June. In the opinion of the expert jury, the company is one of the pioneers of transformation in the German economy and thus one of the exemplary companies that the DNP has been giving a stage to since 2008.
Sustainable company
elka has been committed to healthy living, reducing emissions and sustainability for many years. The company has been working with the renewable raw material wood for 118 years and has always had a close relationship with nature.
Low-emission wood-based materials
Do you want to live, shop, build, renovate or equip an office in an environmentally conscious way? The Blue Angel makes it possible: over 12,000 environmentally friendly products and services from around 1,500 companies have been awarded the Blue Angel. If you use products or services with the Blue Angel eco-label, you can be sure that you are doing something good for yourself, the environment and the future.
Or use the Sentinel Haus service. The Sentinel Haus Institute’s online platform is the only practical tool for planning and creating healthier and sustainable projects and making them affordable.
Environmental product declarations
As a member of the Verband der Deutschen Holzwerkstoffindustrie e.V. (VHI), our chipboard and esb boards are provided with an EPD. Together with the Institut für Bauen und Umwelt e.V. (IBU), the VHI is committed to sustainable construction. Together with its members, the VHI has drawn up Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) for the various product groups in the form of an association EPD.
Sustainable forestry
We only process wood from sustainable, controlled forestry. Based on this commitment, we prefer to use wood from certified forests. These certifications include the PEFC™(Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes) and the FSC®(Forest Stewardship Council®).
Energy management system
We strive for safe, cost-effective, environmentally friendly and energy-efficient solutions for our products and their manufacture in accordance with DIN EN ISO 50001:2018. We are one of the companies that are certified for energy management.
